House update 7/4/08
Edric and I went to the house on Friday and it was locked up but we could see the bottom floor through the windows. The tile has been put down but not grouted. The recessed lighting is all in and the light switches and electrical outlets are put in also. We didn't see the upstairs but we are assuming that the tiling is done in the bathrooms and laundry room upstairs also. Oh and the grass in the front yard is also in. We really cannot tell you how excited we are. Our current kitchen is bursting at the seams and we are so looking forward to space and air conditioning and a laundry area where you can open the garage door and have the dryer open also. (The Laudry room is upstairs) This could not be a more perfect house for us!

Stucco and Texturing!! Slowly but Surely
The back of the house.
Front of the House, they are going to pave the driveway on Wednesday.
They also textured the garage so it will be finished and painted to.
This is the guest bathroom it is not much now, but I am sure once
they start painting they will install the sink, toilet and mirror
Here is Edric standing in our family room. The large white block in the
middle of the room is the island for the kitchen.
This is the master bathroom.
This is a view of the formal living and dining room from the landing on the steps.

Virtual Tour
Here is a virtual tour of what the finished house will look like.
DISCLAIMER** the house you are seeing is not mine. It is upgraded with wood floors, iron spokes in the stair railing going up the steps....etc ... you should be able to tell what is upgrade and what is standard. :)
We can now bathe at the house
Edric and I stopped by the house on Wednesday and the tubs and showers are installed and the drywall is placed in all the rooms ready to go up. The roof is completed also. We should have our frame walk very soon, I think they are reorganizing a little since the passing away of our original sales person Scott.

The Inside

Edric and I stopped by the house on Friday Evening and they are making a lot of progress. The entire house is framed out inside, all the plumbing, electrical, gas fireplace, vents, and windows are up.

This is the family room, the gas fireplace is to your left with cardboard over it
(sorry for the glare) .

This is the kitchen, the framed out closet is where the pantry will be. The piece of wood in the middle of the floor is where the island will be.

This is Edric standing in what will be the formal living room and dining room.

Here is Edric looking out at the view we will see
(until the house goes in behind us) from our bedroom window.

This is Edric in the upstairs hall way. I am standing in what will be the guest
bedroom/office.

What a difference a couple weeks make!!
So on Saturday we went to the house expecting to see some wood framing up. Well, they work a lot faster than we anticipated!! See for yourself. The First picture is of the front of the house. All the houses are put in little cul-de-sacs. Edric and really liked that about the neighborhood. This way we will know all our neighbors and vice versa. It will also give the kids a safe place to ride bikes and such. This does make the houses a little closer than I would like but it is worth it. In Reno almost all the new homes are super close so it really doesn't differ from any of the other surrounding neighborhoods.

The front of the house

The garage

The back of the house (the side of the house is the side of the garage)

This is the back of the house
The window to your left is one of the windows off the family room and the two sets of double windows on the bottom are the formal living and dining room, then garage window and door.
The upstairs windows are (from left to right) Master bathroom (near tub) , water closet (toilet, yes it has it's own room, Edric is very happy about this) , Walk in Closet, first set of double windows is the guest room, and the second set is one of the kids rooms.
On the left side of the house (you can't see this are double doors that will lead to our back yard (we will also have a small yard along the back side of the house)
We will be stopping by on Wednesday since they are moving so fast on it.

We think the builders might be of Amish descent
So I talked to the builder yesterday and he said that on Monday they will start framing the house!! I was told that it would only take about 7-10 days to frame the entire thing....that is pretty fast (at least I think so) Electrical will go in next and we will have a walk though with the builder. The next time we have an official walk-through will be in July when the house is finished but since we are anxious people we will probably be taking pictures every weekend from here on out.
We will probably be able to get down there on Thursday so check back that night for some exciting pictures of some amazing wood and nails. I know I can't wait!

Interior Choices

So we met with the designer on Saturday and chose our cabinets, counters, tiles, and carpet color.
So this is the rundown. The entire interior of the house will be painted in Antique White. Our counter in the kitchen is granite and is a color called Santa Barbara. The floor in the bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, and entry way is a 12x12 ceramic the color is called Sierra Aspen. The cabinets and wood work throughout the house is maple in the color of Autumn. Our carpet..., well we took Granny's advice, is something that would hide any damage that our children would do to it and it is brown color (hard to see in the picture) called Spare Brown. I think all the colors will really go together well and really compliment the style we are going for in the house.
I will try to find better color samples on the web (the camera does not do them justice)

Finally a real picture

We went and took pictures of the progress on the house. It is still a concrete slab but they are framing the house next to it sooo ours is next!! The house looks so small if you go by the concrete slab, but if you look at the house that is the sam as ours a few houses down it is kind of daunting! You will see our shadows from the setting sun. We are standing in what will be our back yard.

So Excited

So Edric and I are super excited to be buying our first home. We finally settled on a new home which is being built in Spanish Springs NV just outside of Reno. We we live by family, the kids will have great schools to go to and we will have a home that our kids can grow up in and really call "HOME".
Here is the floor plan of the house. We will be updating the site with picture of the house as it is built. Edric is so excited as am I about this. Duncan is super excited to never have to move again! (that kid has lived his fair share of places) and well the girls are kind of oblivious to the entire thing but they will be happy later on I am sure. The best part is, is that when people visit they will actually have a place to stay! Maybe I can even get my busy sisters to come out for a visit lol!!
This house is such an answer to our prayers and we could not be grateful enough for the ability to live in such a wonderful place.
